Instant Oats Dosa (Savory Oats Crepes)

on

Instant Oats Dosa  Being gluten, dairy and sugar free, some mornings I have a tough time deciding what to eat for breakfast. Poha is a favorite and so is Oats Upma which I have posted recently.  This is another Oats recipe that my sis suggested to me. And so I decided to give it  a try. Came out pretty good and its very easy.Really one of those instant wonders except you are using real, wholesome ingredients!

This dosa is a bit on the soft side and needs to be eaten soon after being made otherwise it turns soggy pretty fast. You can serve the dosa with some coconut chutney!

Ingredients:

  1. 1/2 cups quick cooking oats, powdered
  2. 1/4 cup rice flour
  3. 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  4. pinch of red chili powder
  5. 1/4 tsp salt
  6. About 3/4 cup water

Method:

Powder the oats in  a food processor and add to a mixing bowl. Add all the rest of the ingredients and mix well to get a smooth flowing batter. (Batter should be very runny).

Heat a frying pan till nice hot.  Dab the surface with a paper towel dipped in water. And then immediately pour one ladle of batter onto the pan. Swirl the pan quickly to get a lacy dosa (crepe). Add some oil on the edges of the dosa and let cook for about 5 minutes on medium heat.  Transfer to a plate and serve hot with chutney!

Note:

  1. You can use oats as is without powdering them too – I just prefer the texture with the oats flour.
  2. Also, you need to cook the dosa for a good 5 minutes to get a crispy dosa.
  3. You can add chopped red onions and green chillies too to make Oats Uttapam the same way.
